Steffi Laier baut die Weltmeisterschaftsführung in Spanien aus!

Unsere MX Teamfahrerin und Weltmeisterin Steffi Laier hat am vergangenen Wochenende in Spanien ihren Vorsprung auf die Konkurrentinnen Livia Lancelot undLarissa Papenmeier ausgebaut! Lest hier die Rennmitteilung aus dem KTM Headquater:
After the heavy race conditions in Portugal it was time to go 1000km forward to Spain for the 3th round of
the World Championship. With 15 points in front of the pack in the standings it was all hopes to keep the red
plate. For this weekend the win went to Steffi before Lancelot and Larissa Papenmeier.
Going to the South of France to train for this next round all looked superb! She was very motivated and did
feel really good on the bike. The weather conditions looked good and the track was perfect. In all these
years Steffi didn’t have a great feeling with the track and was hoping the rain would fall. Because that is
what she likes... get a hard track!
The trainingsessions were good. In the first practice she put already the fastest time on the tables.
Also in the time practice there was not any person who gave Steffi a hard time!
Race 1: It was a Steffi domination. Steffi took the holeshot and did stay on first place! The first 4 laps she
did had a hard time to find the good ritme but after that time it all went superb. She was 10 sec in front of
the rest of the field. 2nd became Lancelot before Larissa Papenmeier.
Race 2: Not a good start as normal for Steffi. She did start in the middle of the pack and could take a
couple of places in the first lap. At that moment it was Livia Lancelot who was leading before Larissa Papenmeier. But Steffi went fast. She put her tempo up and went after Larissa. In the second lap she was already on second place behind Livia.
And it was time to start the battle between the World Champions. There were 2 hard laps and the fight was
done. Livia was not able to respond the strong tempo of the German tiger!
It was Steffi who won the race before Livia and Larissa.
Steffi says:" In the first race I really had a hard time to relax. The first 4 laps I was pushing really hard
to make the difference. After that I did my best to relax and enjoy riding. I had some arm pump at that time
but it went better when the race passed by.
In the second reace I didn’t have a great start. It was hard in the wave section and I had to pass a few girls
to get in front. After one lap I could get 3th and then I wanted to push to the lead. I had a nice battle with
Livia but I am happy with the win! I am now 25 points in front and I want to win as much as possible!"
In the Championship standings:
Steffi leads 25 points before Livia Lancelot.
